Birthday-Love Stash 2013

Wendy at Sugarlane Quilts has come up with a wonderful idea for having items ready and waiting in your stash so when a birthday comes around you have something ready and waiting.I don't make new year resolutions as I know I won't keep them, but I do try to be organised and have gifts and cards made.
The usual thing that happens is I make the cards but run out of time for the gifts and have to either make something in a hurry (and you know what happens when you sew in a hurry...........why don't you ever cut the piece larger????? why is it always too small) or go buy something.

I need a push to get going and this will be just the thing and Wendy will be sourcing some freebies for us or we can use our own. I love it!
Pop on over to her web site and see what's involved and what she has found already. I have marked the Tea Towel Daisies and the Sweet small Purse. I'm off to the shops tomorrow for some tea-towels.

2012 Christmas Stocking Swap

The postie was a little late with the delivery....but he made it all the same! Yesterday when I got home from work there was a parcel waiting for me and I knew exactly what it was!
My poor swap partner Nadine, was quite worried about the delivery, but part one has made it safe and sound.
So......rather than waiting for the rest to arrive I decided to open and do a post to ease her anxiety.

It was wonderful to find this absolutely beautiful stocking in my parcel. The photos don't do the traditional Christmas colours justice! It is just glorious and don't talk about the decorative ornie on the top of the stocking, just too beautiful to describe so you will have to admire it in silence!!
Here is a close up..............believe me it's better in real life! Can you say that about an item?? Did I say silence??? Can't stop talking as I am blown away with these items.LOL.

Also included in the parcel was a pot holder and small velcro bag - called a shoop-shoop bag. Nadine included a lovely note telling me about the items included in the parcel. Her friend named the bag shoop-shoop as this is the sound it makes when you open it. Of course I had to try it a couple of times to test out the theory! Yep...sounds right.....theory works!
There was also included some lovely sparkly ric-rac. Have plans for this for next years Christmas sewing.

Close up of the bag with the pull tabs that help make the sound.

Christmas pot holder.

And to top it all off these gifts were wrapped in Christmas fat quarters and tied up with ribbon..........what a spoiled thing I am. I only wrapped mine to Nadine with paper!

Thanks so very much  Nadine I am soooo spoiled and this was definitely worth waiting for. I am so excited about the next parcel I shall be out at the mail box every day now.
I forgot to take a piccy of the chocolate ...it got a bit soft in the Queensland heat and is now residing in the fridge........won't last you know as I shall get it out for morning tea..........chocolate is not allowed (my rules) before breakfast! I might have to sneak a piece when making my mango smoothy.

Another Album

There were some really nice comments about my album so I decided to show another I have made but have not completed the journalling or put any photos into yet. Just a pictorial of the pages, the side-outs for making notes, and pockets with photo mats. It is like a little box that opens out to reveal the pages and pockets.

As you can see I sometimes get ink where I don't want it...........but I don't think I can be any different so I just have to accept this will happen no matter how hard I try not to! I will put some journalling over this part so you won't be able to see it I hope! LOL.

I did this tutorial from the net from someone in the UK, but I can't remember her name as it was some time ago.
As you can see I love to make anything Christmas........It's my favourite time of the year! LOL

Elfster Gift Exchange 2012

I recently participated in the Elfster International Gift Exchange and can now show you what I made for my swap partner.
Agatha from Singapore let me know she didn't have a tree so after a good bit of  faffing around  I decided to make her a kissing ball.

Agatha has put a piccy on her blog here

This is what I received in return. I wore my necklace to work the other day and lots of people wanted to know more about it..........what is was made from, who made it. Most people were impressed with the fact it was made using recycled items such as the belt buckle.
Thanks Agy for the lovely gift.

Also waiting in the post box on Friday afternoon was my December Fat Quarter swap from Wendy at Sugarland Quilts
Thanks Wendy, there is something in the post for you and it shouldn't take long as we don't live that far away from each other as the crow flies.

Final Day for One Week of Christmas

The last day has come around and I have had a great time showing you some of  my Christmas Stuff, but sadly we have come to the last day.

Rudolph - doesn't turn on the nose until Christmas eve.

Christmas swag.

 My Christmas village.

The elusive partridge - still hasn't forgiven me about the pears!

Reindeer........did I forget to mention I like these as well?

Table decoration

Wall hangings. I have quite a few of these and while some come out every year others take turns.

Thanks for coming around and letting me waffle on about my favourite time of the year. It is more than just decorating to me.....it's about memories of wonderful times with our families and anticipation of a repeat of these times into the future.
And a big thanks to Cheryll for hosting.

Day Four - One week of Christmas

Day Four .................. So, lets see some Santas.

Woodlands Santa with deer.

Tassel Santa

Small Santas

Large..."Oh I have a lovely beard", Santa. He just wanted his beard in the photo and I couldn't persuade him otherwise.

Aloof Santa......has someone been naughty?? SHOW ME THE LIST!

Small hanging Santa.

Tin Santa with sign...Yeh! right.....like he needs a sign!

Bear Santa -  I think he has been up to mischief.....never trust a bear with a smile!

Another collection......disregard the penguins. They insisted on being in this group! Next thing you know there will be Christmas whales!!

A trio of Santas.

Hope you enjoyed my Santas..........Do you think I like them? Believe me I have more but don't usually put them all out and they take turns every year being on display and I probably have another 10 or 12 patterns to make! LOL!

See you tomorrow.

Day Three - One Week of Christmas

Today brings us to day 3..........I am really enjoying the tours of everyone's Christmas decorating. It fills my heart with...................

A bowl of Christmas pears. I picked them from the pear tree and the partridge is not happy!!

Christmas baking.......these are date and nut loaf and I will decorate the tins and give them away (with the cake in it of course) as gifts. I use the wafer stick tins that abound at this time of year. Of course you have to eat the wafers. LOL

More gifts.....who doesn't love a boiled fruit cake.

See you tomorrow for day 4.
