Catching Up on Things

I have been waiting patiently for my new Tilda book to arrive and what do you know it came yesterday! Although I was wanting to make the My Town Placemat, I just couldn't resist making a few of the plump, very short legged reindeer!

He is such a cute little fellow that I have another 3 on the bench ready to stuff! I can see a whole herd coming to stay at my place!

Last weekend DD and I caught up on some secret stitching while we enjoyed a cuppa and some chocolate brownies. Can only give sneak peaks!

Can't wait for the big reveal! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and if you are looking for something beautiful to stitch over the holidays why not head over to Jenny's of Elefantz and check out the next Stitchery Club on offer - Stitchy Things.

A Change of Pace

At a time when there are a lot of people out of work it almost seems like something crazy to do, but do it I have!

What is it you ask!

That's right! Taking off the high heels and giving up the work travel, putting away the laptop and the fancy bags....oh!... I might keep the bags! I do love a stylish bag.....but after 23 years in Health Management I have decided to give it all away and not work in management any more but to go back to my love of being a nurse and work very part-time.
No more worrying about staffing, no more on call, no more budgets and no more full-time work, no more policies, no more reports to the health minister!
My last day will be this Friday and I start on a new chapter of my life.

I want to be able to do more stitching and sewing, cooking and spending time with the grandchildren.
Makes it sound like it's me, me, me, me! I guess it is but it took lots of thinking and reflection on what I have achieved over the last twenty odd years and my contribution to health and aged care in particular and to be able to let it go and do something for me and my family.

Wish me luck!

Last night I stitched along with Wendy and the crew for Friday Night Sew In.
Although I was tired I couldn't help but pick up my stitching while watching Better Homes and Gardens on TV. Currently slowly getting through Wendy's gorgeous Christmas design. You can get your own copy here.

Block one done! I changed the French word for an Italian one meaning the same thing.

Block 2 done! Don't you just love the little birdie?

Block 3 ..........almost done!
I'm hoping I can get it finished by Christmas.

Thanks Wendy, for hosting and thanks everyone else for stitching along with me. Pop on over to Wendy's blog and see what everyone  got up to last night.

Still Here!

Yes! I'm still around and still stitching. Lots going on but mostly secret sewing.

I have finally completed my Shabby Roses Churn Dash Stitch-a-long with Jenny of Elefantz.

I had decided to make my blocks into a table runner and originally I was going to use it on my dining room table, but discovered it was the perfect size of my coffee table!

Time to move on to something else and I am making the Leanne Beasley sewing caddie!
Don't you just love stitching with variegated threads? I am using Dogwood Rose by Cottage Garden Threads.

Can't wait to make it up and use.
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend.

New Job

Taking the plunge and moving to a new job in August has certainly put the brakes on my stitching, blogging and face-booking!
But I have gradually found my time management skills and stitching is on the burner again.

I have been keeping up with Jenny and her Friday stitch-a-long and have decided to make the blocks into a table runner.

I have lots of blocks completed and with only a few more to do I can begin to put it all together.
They are so quick to stitch and make up it has been very satisfying when time and tiredness have almost stopped me altogether!

With these nearly finished I have traced out another set to commence and this time it is a Leanne Beasley block from Country Threads Vol 5 Number 6. Being away for work for the rest of the week this stitchery will give me something to do at night. I don't mind needle and thread for company when I'm away from home.

By the way if you are looking for some wonderful Christmas stitching and quilting go over here to Jenny and Wendy. What lovely talented friends to have! Check out the give-away on Jenny's pages as well!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Friday Stitch-A-Long with Jenny

These cute little stitcherys are quick and easy to do and I have been able to keep up with Jenny and the Friday stitch-a-long.

I decided last week to trace out a few so that when I have some spare time I could work on them. This enabled me to get a little ahead of time and on the weekend I made up a couple of extra blocks.

Sorry about the blurred picture, just to tired to check!
I am pretty pleased with how I am motoring along and have another 4 traced and ready to go!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

A Little Cooking Also

While on holidays I tried a few new recipes as well.

I made Chicken and Leek Pie. A real comfort food if ever there was one!

Pumpkin fruit cake by the oven full! Plenty to share around.

Cauliflower soup, made with roasted cauliflower and loads of leeks. Something to warm you on a cold night, and served with crusty bread.

Sweets for my lovely friends

I love trying out new dishes and it's even better when you get to eat them.
Thanks for visiting.

Holidays are over!

Now that I am back at work I don't get as much time to stitch, but I'll show you some of the things I did while off.

A little turtle for my granddaughter. She picked the fabrics and assisted by handing me the pins.

Finished my "Life is Beautiful" cushion. Can't remember who designed this, blame it on work!

And framed the "Sparrow" stitchery by Jennifer Reynolds. Couldn't find a bigger frame so didn't add the two borders.
Hope you enjoyed the show and tell.

FNSI August.

Thanks to the lovely Wendy for hosting Friday Night Sew-In again, love the idea of stitching/sewing away with wonderful like minded people across the web.

It had been a wet and cool day (does she need an excuse) and the cat decided it wanted to sit on my lap while I stitched.

Guess who won!

I stitched block 3 of Jenny's Shabby Roses Churn Dash Stitch-along.

I found the same fabric range as Jenny's at a local craft shop a couple of weeks ago,  so decided to redo the first block. I know crazy!! but I now have 3 blocks completed. Wish I could keep up to date with all my sewing/stitching projects!

I feel really please with how quick they come together and can't wait to do more. I'm going to pop over to Wendy's blog and see what everyone else got up to on Friday night. I am sure it will be inspiring!
